CDA to Make F-9 Park Citizen Club Operational
Islamabad: Three new private members have been recruited to the management committee (MG) of the Gandhara Heritage and Culture and Convention Center at F-9 Citizen Club by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
After receiving permission of the three new titles from the federal cabinet, the CDA is currently preparing to put the convention centre into operation. It is said that the CDA board had authorised the names on Monday and had made the decision to transmit a summary for approval to the federal cabinet.
The covered space of the citizen club, which spans 22 acres, is 265,000 square feet. The structure has amenities like dining options, an indoor pool, a gym, a lobby, an aerobics room, and a fitness centre.
The CDA began work on the club building project in 2008, however once the structure was finished, the Supreme Court decided that the building could not be used as a club.
A board of governors will run the centre, according to guidelines established by the CDA board in October of last year. The board agreed last year that while citizens might use the facilities, there would be no requirement for a mandatory membership.
It is pertinent to state that the citizen will, however, pay for the facility they will use. The centre would be utilised to host meetings, exhibits, and provide sporting facilities, including a gym, according to the CDA. The centre will contain a museum that showcases the Gandhara culture in addition to club amenities.
The creation of the MC with the names of the ex-officio members was agreed by the federal cabinet last year, and the CDA was instructed to also include the names of the secretary of heritage and three members from the business sector.
The CDA board decided last year that the centre must also provide lifetime membership. The initial lifetime membership of 5,000 patrons was supposed to generate a revenue of Rs2.5 billion, which would not only cover the initial expenditure of Rs2 billion but also generate an additional revenue of Rs500 million.
The centre will initially be accessible to the general public for a Rs500,000 one-time/lifetime membership cost. Patrons will be charged a Rs 2,500 monthly subscription fee.
According to the paperwork, the club will also be open to the public upon payment of a monthly subscription fee for each facility, which included tennis ($5,000/month), swimming ($12,000/month), and a gymnasium ($12,000/month) (Rs5,000). From these services, Rs972 million in yearly revenue is anticipated. A security deposit of Rs. 50 000 will also be required
