CPEC emphasizes construction of an Economic Corridor
CPEC Authority Chairman, Asim Saleem Bajwa addressing the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said that CPEC carries the potential to change the destiny of Pakistan. It aims to upgrade Pakistan’s infrastructure and strengthen its economy by the construction of modern transportation networks, numerous energy projects, and special economic zones.
Speaking to ICCI, Bajwa promised support for the initiative to enhance economic activities in Gwadar. In this regard, the CPEC Authority Chairman ensured its full support to LCCI’s plan to conduct a business moot at Gwadar in March 2021.
CPEC Authority chairman emphasizes the need for projecting corridors as a regional connectivity initiative and remarked that under-developed areas would be prioritized in CPEC. Bajwa said that the pace of the projects is on full swing and would enable the bilateral investment, trade, logistics and people-to-people contact to promote regional connectivity.
The mega project included integrated transport and IT systems including road, rail, port, air and data communication channels, energy cooperation, industrial and economic zones, agricultural development and socio-economic development. Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah congratulated the governments of Pakistan and China, Pakistan’s armed forces, contractors and companies involved.
