Islamabad District Administration Forbids Purchase & Sale of CDA-Acquired Land Via Stamp Papers
Islamabad: To stop unauthorised land sales and the rise in rehabilitation claims, the district administration of the capital city has outlawed the sale and purchase of land acquired by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) through stamp papers.
The CDA has asked the district administration to stop the practice and safeguard their approved stamp dealers. According to the information, the additional deputy commissioner of revenue in Islamabad has also warned stamp merchants to discontinue the practice right away. Otherwise, their licences will be suspended and they will face legal consequences.
Thousands of canals of land had been purchased by the CDA for the development of residential areas and other uses. However, it hasn’t been able to offer total compensation in the majority of cases, and it doesn’t have full custody of the land it has purchased.
As a result of the sale and purchase of land on stamp papers, the CDA had acquired the land years earlier but has yet to begin development work. The situation in sectors D-13, E-13, and F-13 is even worse, with private individuals occupying hundreds of canals of land and constructing opulent villas without the necessary documentation.
Sidra Anwar, the director of land for CDA, declared that using stamp papers to sell or buy land that CDA has acquired is forbidden and illegal. The director urged stamp merchants to stop discouraging the unauthorised sale and acquisition of CDA-acquired land and to take strict action against anyone who engage in such activities.
