LHC Continues to Work on Lahore Master Plan 2050 Execution
Lahore: After a petition filed by a citizen who questioned the plan, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has prolonged the stay on the execution of the Lahore Master Plan 2050 for an additional two weeks.
It is pertinent to state that the court ordered the city administration to seek a foreign or local consultant to re-examine the master plan after expressing concern about the proposal’s possible effects on residents during the hearing.
The rapid construction of housing projects on farmlands, which has significantly hurt the agriculture-based economy, was also chastised by the LHC court.
According to the petition, the ecology could suffer harm as a result of the plan’s proposed removal of thousands of trees. Ample farmland has allegedly been transformed into urban areas without having appropriate justification, according to the petitioner.
The master plan’s implementation will be put on hold during the two-week adjournment of the court hearing.
It is important to note that a long-term strategy that outlines the city’s development over the following three decades is the Lahore Master Plan 2050.
