NLC Assigned to Carry Out Bhara Kahu Bypass Project in Islamabad
Islamabad: On Monday, the National Logistics Cell (NLC) came as the lowest bidder when the Capital Development Authority (CDA) opened financial bids for the contract of the Bhara Kahu bypass project.
According to sources, the NLC offered Rs6.5 billion while FWO filed a bid for Rs7.3 billion. The NLC will now receive work orders soon because it submitted the lowest bid.
CDA officials stated that the ceremonial inauguration of the project will be carried out by the prime minister upon his return from the United States, who also stated that the NLC was likely to mobilise its machinery in some time.
The CDA was asked to start the project soon and complete it in four months last month. The five-kilometre road (including a one-kilometre flyover) will begin on Murree Road near the Quaid-i-Azam University stop and end on Murree Road near the Jugi bus stop next to Punjab Cash and Carry. From there, it will have a flyover that is one kilometre long and ends outside the Bhara Kahu bazaar, heading toward Murree.
A 7.8 kilometre road was originally designed by the CDA to fully circumvent Bhara Kahu and Kot Hatyal. But it took close to two years to finish the project. As a result, the CDA chose to commence the five-kilometre road and flyover project instead of putting it on hold.
The PC-I, projected to cost roughly Rs7 billion, was approved by the CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP) a couple of weeks ago, but on Monday, when bids were opened, the civic agency received the Rs6.5 billion bid.
When the project is finished, it will be a huge comfort for those who are travelling to Murree and Kashmir because the current Murree Road in Bhara Kahu is congested, especially on the weekends. The engineering division of the CDA is certain that the project will be finished.
Capt (retired) Mohammad Usman, the chairman of the CDA, stated that financial bids had been invited for the bypass project. Furthermore, he declared that he had instructed the engineering wing to begin the project right away and that it would be finished in four months.
The CDA chief recently stated that the project may be completed in four months during his first encounter with reporters.
