Rawalpindi Ring Road Project to Face Delays
Rawalpindi: The decision by the authorities to realign the already-stalled road project will probably result in yet another delay for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project.
The Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) has agreed to collaborate with an international consultant firm to complete the project’s readjustment, according to a media report.
The fact that the project has been put on hold for 15 years is worth emphasising. Its design and traffic management had previously drawn criticism from the National Highway Authority (NHA).
According to additional sources, the relevant authorities have started working to alter the plan of the route by constructing a link road from Fateh Jhang to Sangjani.
The reports state that a prior contract for the building of the 38.3-kilometer-long Rawalpindi Ring Road from Rawat to Thalian was awarded by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for Rs. 22.8 billion.
A completion date for the ring road project still hasn’t been announced by the government. But the realignment attempts will probably cause the project to be delayed further.
