WAPDA Chairman Emphasises on Timely Completion of Projects
Lahore: Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (r), Chairman of Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), has stated that his top objective is to complete under-construction WAPDA projects on time. Furthermore, he talked about launching new projects to meet the country’s increasing need for water and energy.
This was the essence of Chairman’s involvement during week-long briefing sessions about under-construction WAPDA projects such as Diamer Basha Dam, Mohmand Dam and Dasu Hydropower Project.
The chairman emphasised the importance of the ongoing projects by stating that the completion of the 10 WAPDA projects is linked to Pakistan’s economic stability and social advancement because they will add 11.7 million acre feet (MAF) of gross water storage and 11300 MW of affordable, clean, and environmentally friendly hydel electricity to the national grid.
It is pertinent to state that since these projects are supposed to be finished in phases between 2022 and 2029, completing them on time is a significant problem.
The Chairman pleaded with the project management to work cohesively as a team to complete the WAPDA projects on schedule. To do this, each employee must play their assigned duty with the utmost commitment.
He underlined the need for project management to adopt a forward-thinking strategy for reducing roadblocks to efficient project implementation. During the briefings, extensive discussion was also had regarding the acquisition of land, confidence-boosting measures in the project’s areas, logistics, and security.
